Easter Egg Hunt Fake News and Memory Healing

Okay, I have a confession to make. My last post had some errors. Apparently, I combined two different easter egg hunts into one. My sister and her husband read my newsletter and when we came to visit for Easter, they pulled out some photos that collaborated the ending they remembered. Leave it to two engineers to have proof!

So, here’s the true version (though I am a creative writer so I’m still okay with my original take). You see, Keith (my brother-in-law) saw one of the easter eggs hidden up in a tree. He picked Jacob up so he could get it. To win the contest, it wasn't about having the most eggs, but instead getting an egg with a golden ticket. And guess what? Jacob’s one egg had the golden ticket! Hurray - meltdown averted!

The other Easter basket in version one of this story (bought by Grandma Anne) must have been a different Easter. Still made a good story though, didn’t it?

I share this to set the record straight but also because it highlights a powerful tool for healing. Did you know that our minds will incorporate whatever story we adopt? This means that we can create “memories” of things that didn’t even happen to us!

So how can you use this for healing?

By using your imagination to create/visualize a different outcome to a challenge or trauma, you can essentially rewire your brain. I’ve been using this technique with my mentoring clients to reprogram old patterns around their feelings of safety/security and belonging. You can try it with a painful memory of your own. Below are some simple steps. Let me know how it works for you!

Visualize To Heal

1. Select a memory from your childhood (or adulthood) that you still feel pain around.

2. Imagine the experience but this time, bring your wise higher self into the scene.

3. Imagine your grownup self protecting and caring for your younger self to change the experience so the child is safe and secure, no matter what happened in the past.

4. Come back to the present moment. When you feel the fear of the past echoed in the present, bring your wise self forward to take care of you, reminding yourself that you are no longer powerless.

And if you need some help, I’m happy to guide you through it. Use the contact form and we’ll set up a time for a coaching session!

Wishing you all a beautiful and joyous day (whatever day you come upon this)!
