Family Secrets and a Wonderful New Book
I have always loved mysteries. When I was a kid I spent hours searching for hidden drawers in the antique furniture, determined to find a long-lost letter. I never did find one, but as my mom and aunt got more into genealogy over the years, I have learned about some unsolved family mysteries. For instance, did my great grandfather build the house on Savage Street here in Spring Lake or was there already a house on the land when he purchased it?
A recorded conversation with my late grandmother says he did, but the historical records don’t seem to match up.
So, I guess we may never know exactly what happened there.
Of course, this is where the wonders of writing fiction comes in. With the power of imagination, those long-lost family stories can have a new life – even if they may be in a different form than they originally happened.
Which brings me to my point today.
One of my creative writing partners, Linda Scholten, used this idea to write her amazing book, WHO WE THINK WE ARE. Exploring a fictional premise about the effects of a long-hidden family secret connected to WWII, her protagonist travels to Europe to uncover answers, and finds more than she was bargaining for.
I love this book and I hope you will love it too!
WHO WE THINK WE ARE is available for preorder on Tuesday (7/8/2025) on Amazon Kindle for only $.99. Would you help her have a wonderful launch by purchasing it on Tuesday?
